Plans & Upgrading
Shorebird’s Pro and Business plans are self-service. You can upgrade, downgrade, switch between monthly and annual billing, and cancel from the Plan page in the Shorebird Console. Enterprise plans are set up by the Shorebird team.
See the pricing page for what each plan includes.
Who can change the plan
Section titled “Who can change the plan”Plans belong to an account, not to an organization. Every organization you own runs on your plan, and their patch installs count against it.
This means only the organization owner can upgrade the plan for an organization. If you’re an Admin or Developer and your team needs a bigger plan, ask the owner to upgrade. To see who owns an organization, open the organization’s settings in the console.
Upgrade from Free
Section titled “Upgrade from Free”- Go to Account in the Shorebird Console and click Manage Plan.
- Click Upgrade plan.
- Pick Monthly or Annual, then click Upgrade to Pro or Upgrade to Business.
- Complete checkout in Stripe.
Your new plan is active as soon as checkout completes, and your billing period starts today.
Upgrade from Pro to Business
Section titled “Upgrade from Pro to Business”- Go to Account and click Manage Plan.
- Click Change plan.
- Click Upgrade to Business on the billing interval you want.
- Review the prorated amount due today and click Confirm and pay.
Upgrades take effect immediately. You’re charged a prorated amount for the rest of the current billing period, and your plan renews as Business at the next renewal date.
Switch between monthly and annual billing
Section titled “Switch between monthly and annual billing”Open Manage Plan → Change plan and use the Monthly / Annual tabs to pick the interval, then click Switch to your plan on that interval.
- Monthly to annual takes effect immediately. You’re charged the annual price, less a prorated credit for the unused part of the current month.
- Annual to monthly is scheduled for the end of your current annual period. Nothing is charged today.
Downgrade from Business to Pro
Section titled “Downgrade from Business to Pro”Open Manage Plan → Change plan and click Switch to Pro.
Downgrades are scheduled, not immediate: your current plan stays active through the period you’ve already paid for, and it becomes Pro at the start of the next period. Nothing is due today. Until then, the Plan page shows the scheduled change with a Keep current plan button that cancels it.
Cancel your plan
Section titled “Cancel your plan”Open Manage Plan and click Cancel plan.
Nothing changes today. Your plan runs to the end of the current billing period, after which your account drops to the Free plan. Your apps and release history stay on your account, and devices keep the last patch they received. See Will your app still work if you cancel?
Until the period ends, the Plan page shows a Resume plan button if you change your mind.
Enterprise
Section titled “Enterprise”Enterprise plans include SAML single sign-on, invoice billing, custom contracts, and higher patch volumes. They aren’t self-service: reach out to sales and the Shorebird team will set up your account. See Enterprise for what’s included.
If you’re already on an Enterprise or other negotiated plan, the Plan page doesn’t offer self-service changes. Contact your Shorebird representative or email billing for changes.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”I upgraded but my organization still shows the old plan
Section titled “I upgraded but my organization still shows the old plan”Plans belong to the account that owns the organization. If you upgraded your own account but someone else owns the organization, the organization is still on the owner’s plan. Either the owner upgrades, or ownership of the organization is transferred to the account with the paid plan.
Change plan is disabled
Section titled “Change plan is disabled”Plans can’t be changed while a payment is past due. Update your payment method from the Payment card on the Plan page to settle the balance, then try again.
I need a plan that isn’t listed
Section titled “I need a plan that isn’t listed”If none of the self-service plans fit, or you need invoice billing or a custom contract, talk to sales.
