Deprecations

This page lists everything Shorebird has retired or plans to retire: Flutter versions, Shorebird CLI versions, credentials and commands. Each entry names what replaces it.

Apps already in the app stores are never affected. They keep downloading and installing patches whatever the deprecation.

Each deprecation moves through four stages:

  • Announced: listed on this page, with a date once one is set.
  • Warning: the CLI and console tell affected teams what to change and by when.
  • Enforced: the old version or credential is refused, with an error naming the fix.
  • Removed: Shorebird no longer carries any support for it.

Publishing releases and patches will need Shorebird 1.6.0 or newer. In CI, update the Shorebird version your pipeline installs, or use Setup Shorebird, which installs the latest.

A shorebird login made with a CLI before 1.6.125 will stop working. Upgrade, then log out and log in again. CI that uses an API key in SHOREBIRD_TOKEN is not affected.

Shorebird CI, the hosted GitHub AppRemovedAugust 25, 2026The shorebird_ci package

Shorebird supports Flutter versions at most two years old. Shorebird 1.6.131 and newer refuse new Android and iOS releases on Flutter older than 3.24.0; patches to releases already built on one keep working. The supported minimum for each platform is in Supported Flutter versions, and known issues with specific versions are in Flutter version notes.

Tokens from shorebird login:ci, and logins made with a CLI before 1.6.87, stopped working on October 1, 2026. On your own machine, run shorebird upgrade, then shorebird logout and shorebird login. In CI, create a service account or API key in the console and set it as SHOREBIRD_TOKEN. See Getting Shorebird credentials onto the builder.

The hosted Shorebird CI GitHub App stopped running checks on August 8, 2026, and was removed on August 25, 2026. The shorebird_ci package generates a GitHub Actions workflow that runs the same checks in your repository. See Shorebird CI to move to it and remove the App.
