description: "Release and patch with Shorebird from CI. Pick the guide for your CI provider."
---

To release or patch from CI, install Shorebird on the builder, give it an API key in the `SHOREBIRD_TOKEN` environment variable, and run `shorebird release` or `shorebird patch` where you ran `flutter build`. On GitHub Actions you can [sign in with OIDC](/code-push/ci/github/#sign-in-with-oidc-instead-of-a-stored-key) instead of storing a key (Shorebird 1.6.129 and newer). Pick the guide for your provider. If yours isn’t listed, the generic guide works on any builder that can run a shell script.

[Generic CI setup](/code-push/ci/generic/)Install Shorebird, add credentials and run it on any builder.

[Scripting the Shorebird CLI](/code-push/ci/scripting/)Run the CLI unattended, read its JSON output, and handle its exit codes.
